Cruise controls for everyday and Grey import cars

Command

Australia is without question ‘Cruise Control country’. Long stretches of roads, highways and freeways definitely call for this luxury product. The Cruise control can be installed into most vehicles and once installed; you can enjoy the following benefits:

-Increase comfort and reduce fatigue
-Prevent fuel waste due to erratic speed and
Continual acceleration/deceleration
-Avoid infringements & lost points from unintended speeding
-Concentrate on the road, not your Speedometer
-Arrive at your destination more relaxed

Technique's Approved range of Cruise Controls employ the latest in Microprocessor technology. best possible performance is achieved by continually monitoring the vehicle's speed (up to 5 times per second) and rapidly adjusting to minimise uphill lagging and downhill overrun.

Our range of Cruise controls can be installed into passenger cars, commercial vans, light trucks and Grey import vehicles such as Mitsubishi Delica, Nissan Skyline & Stagea, Nissan Elgrand, etc.

The typical features found in our line-up of Cruise Controls are Set, Accelerate, Decelerate (Slow down), Resume and cancel functions. While the Level 3 and above Cruise controls feature Self learning technology, on-road Calibration & acceleration adjustments for smoother cruise control operation and increased fuel economy.
The Level 6 Cruise Control is our Flagship system has all the features mentioned above with the addition of CAN-bus vehicle integration and Speed limiter.

Technique's range of Cruise Controls are available in the following options:-

Level 1 Vacuum Cruise Control - AP60
Great performance from a well priced Cruise Control. Operated by a dash-pad command switch that is mounted either in the centre console or on the dashboard. Suits a vast range of vehicles with or without an electronic Speed signal wire.

Level 2 Vacuum Cruise Control - AP150
Another great performing Cruise Control at an affordable price. Operated by a Stalk switch traditionally mounted on the left hand side of the steering column. Suiting a vast range of Older and newer vehicles

Level 3 Vacuum Cruise Control - AP300
Professional series Cruise Control with advanced features such as self learning technology, on-road calibration & detailed adjustments for smoother operation and increased fuel economy, continuous speed monitoring (up to 5 times a second) to minimise downhill overruns and uphill struggling & lagging.
Available with a choice of Stalk or Steering wheel switches or connection to original equipment Switches.

Level 4 Electric Cruise Control - AP500
Professional series Cruise Control with advanced features such as self learning technology, on-road calibration & detailed adjustments for smoother operation and increased fuel economy, continuous speed monitoring (up to 5 times a second) to minimise downhill overruns and uphill struggling & lagging.
Available with a choice of Stalk or Steering wheel switches or connection to original equipment Switches (Selected vehicles)

Ideal for turbocharged and heavier vehicles as well as vehicles with little or no vacuum. We can advise on your vehicle's suitability.

Level 5 Drive by Wire Cruise control - AP900
Professional series Cruise Control with advanced features such as self learning technology, on-road calibration & detailed adjustments for smoother operation and increased fuel economy, continuous speed monitoring (up to 5 times a second) to minimise downhill overruns and uphill struggling & lagging.
Available with a choice of Stalk or Steering wheel switches or connection to original equipment Switches (Selected vehicles)
.

Level 6 CAN-bus Drive by Wire Cruise control - AP900C
Professional series Cruise Control with advanced features such as self learning technology, on-road calibration & detailed adjustments for smoother operation and increased fuel economy, continuous speed monitoring (up to 5 times a second) to minimise downhill overruns and uphill struggling & lagging, CAN-bus vehicle integration, Speed limiter
Available with a choice of Stalk or Steering wheel switches or connection to original equipment Switches
(Selected vehicles).

What is Drive by Wire?

Drive by wire technology (also known as Fly by wire) has been used in aircraft, heavy vehicles and machinery for many years and more recently, we recently started to see this advanced technology in cars and light commercial vehicles.
Drive by wire technology has allowed car manufacturers to throw away the traditional accelerator cable and replace it with an electrically controlled butterfly throttle valve and a pedal position sensor (Potentiometer). Both of these components are linked to each other via the vehicle's engine management system.
The result; cleaner exhaust emissions, improved fuel economy and improved throttle response

CAN-bus Cruise control integration - The answer for New vehicles.

CAN-bus technology (Controller Area Network) was jointly developed back in the 1980's by Robert Bosch Ltd and Vector Informatik. CAN-bus, in a nutshell is advanced technology used in Automotive and Transport vehicles to reduce usage of copper wires while maintaining and/or increasing vehicle functionality. Features such as fuel milage, engine electrical system fault reporting, blown tail light report back and much more has been far too complex or was not available for vehicles without CAN-bus technology.
CAN-bus information is transferred to and from various vehicle components such as Body control modules, Engine management systems, Instrument clusters, audio systems, etc. via two or more twisted wires.

With this complex technology integrated into so many new cars, installing cruise controls in such vehicles has been either inviable or methods of installation are not approved by ourselves or motoring enthusiasts alike.

One example is the vehicle speed signal not being readily accessible so therefore the only way a speed signal is achievable is by installing a magnet speed pickup unit on the tail-shaft or driveshaft of the Powertrain assembly.
The problem - 9 times out of 10 the magnet speed assembly can break off or lose original positioning overtime and we have seen this commonly on Four wheel drive recreational and commercial vehicles. Imagine driving on or off road where the magnet assembly gets damaged by rocks or other flying or protruding matter rubbing onto the tail-shaft and breaking off the magnets.
The result - the cruise control will simply not work.

Level 6 Cruise controls will eliminate that problem by retrieving the speed signal from CAN-bus.
